Dalada perahera, The event celebrated annually to allow general public to pay their homage & worship to the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha that Hindu Temples joining event Natha Temple, Pathini Temple, Vishn Temple, Katharagama Temple procession respectively .Hindu culture ,costumes, Costumes & Kawadi music bringing uniqueness.
The is one of most glamorous & colorful world famous cultural event processions in island. Climax of this spectacular pageant is the much more glamorous Randoli (Golden Carriage) Perahera where the temple’s magnificent tusker (Raja) elephant adorned with elegant costumes carrying on its back an illuminated howdah with the golden casket in which the sacred Tooth is enshrined.
The event is made colorful and vivid with many cultural Kandyan dancers, drumming & dancing ,conch & flute playing,instrument players and nicely decorated elephant, Diyawadana Nilame (the lay custodian of the Dalada Maligawa) himself takes his position in front of the golden casket bringing tusker & others,parading under the light of copra (Dry coconut) lamps.for first five days (Kumbal Perahara) is shorter & procession within Temple premises but Randoli Perahara (sixth and last day) many graded clothes tuskers and more dancing groups join with proud,
